Finally, Del Toro Vampire Thrillers Announced
Even though I first learned about this book deal in open court more than a year and a half ago, the news is now official, I guess, since Variety is reporting it: Guillermo Del Toro, the now notoriously overcommitted director, has been working with Chuck Hogan (author of PRINCE OF THIEVES, THE KILLING MOON and other crime novels) on a trilogy of vampire books that “will revolve around an invasion of New York City by a vampiric
virus…[and] will trace the roots of the vampiric race back to its Old
Testament origins.” The first one, THE STRAIN, will be published next summer by William Morrow, and a special edition will be published simultaneously by the company’s Spanish-language imprint, Rayo, in the U.S.
