Crime Pays for Murder on the Beach
The Palm Beach Post profiles Joanna Sinchuk, owner of Murder on the Beach, which moved to Delray Beach 5 years ago after five years in Sunny Isles Beach:
Sinchuk’s favorite outings as a girl were to the public library with her parents in their hometown of Bridgeport, Conn.
"I’d sit in the back of the car reading the whole way home,"
remembered Sinchuk, 57, of Delray Beach. "And when we got home, I
wouldn’t want to get out of the car."By 10, she was already reading adult books.
"Of course I read Nancy Drew and a lot of fiction," she said. "And by the time I was 13 I’d read all the Agatha Christies."
Today, she reads two to three books a week. Her favorite author? It changes every week.
"I just recently discovered Scandinavian authors, though, and I’m really enjoying them," she said.
Sinchuk says she has cornered a small niche market, which makes her proud. “I like to say I am the world leader in signed Florida mystery
books,” said Sinchuk, who has three bookcases dedicated to the state’s
authors. “Certain authors have told me that I’ve sold more of their
books than anyone else, even the chain stores.”
