Here there be awards

First up, the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award – which will be given out at Harrogate next month – has announced its shortlist:

STRANGE BLOOD, Lindsay Ashford
ONE LAST BREATH, Stephen Booth
THE COFFIN TRAIL, Martin Edwards
THE VARIOUS HAUNTS OF MEN, Susan Hill
THE TORMENT OF OTHERS, Val McDermid
FLESHMARKET CLOSE, Ian Rankin

It’s a very good shortlist, to say the least, and I congratulate them all.

Also the Macavity Awards have been announced, which you can view here (though I suspect Paul Levine’s name will be moved out of Best First Novel – let’s not wipe the Jake Lassiter books from memory, shall we?)
