On the conference front

This weekend, in a bit of a change of pace, Malice Domestic will take place this weekend. Change of pace because usually it’s the weekend after the Edgars, but this time it’s the weekend before. The author lineup looks excellent, and lots of fans and industry folk will be in attendance, too. Aside from lots of panels, the Agatha Awards will be given out Saturday night.

Also this weekend is the Palm Springs Book Festival, which is not strictly mystery-oriented but still features a fair number of genre writers, including Lee Goldberg, Steve Alten, Theresa Schwegel, Barbara Seranella, Gregg Hurwitz, D.P. Lyle, Thom Racina, Nichelle Tramble, John Morgan Wilson, and Anne & Christopher Rice.

And then, looking further ahead, the Harrogate Crime Festival has announced its full programme. To say I am envious is an understatement, but then I looked at flights to the UK that weekend and felt better at not going. Still, it promises to be one of the best crime fiction events of the year, and if you can go…what’s stopping you?
