But what kind of book is this?

That is the question that enters my mind as I read about this new deal:

Tom Cavanagh’s FAN KLUB, about a former detective with only months to

live who accepts one last case – tracking down the missing member of a

popular boy band – to impress his estranged teenage daughter, but soon

discovers circumstances far more dangerous than he assumed, to Peter

Joseph at Thomas Dunne Books, by Daniel Lazar at Writers House.

Because it sounds like it could be a fairly thoughtful PI novel — the whole “months to live” definitely helps that assumption — but the title’s kinda jokey and I wonder if it won’t be changed down the line.

And now I’m curious, has there ever been a series where we knew the protagonist was going to die from the getgo? Because that does seem like a cool premise…
