ITW calls for submissions
I got a note over the weekend from author Elaine Flinn, who is chairing the judging committee for the International Thriller Writers’ Best First Thriller Award. As of this writing, there have only been three — yes, three — submissions for this category. She explained that there might be some confusion on the part of publishers as to whether some debut novels qualify, but in any case, those who believe their book should be considered for this category should contact overall awards chair Jim Rollins, or Flinn herself.
Just off the top of my head, I can think of a few debuts that would qualify: Will Staeger’s PAIN KILLER, Theresa Schwegel’s OFFICER DOWN, Sean Rowe’s FEVER, Stuart MacBride’s COLD GRANITE, Zoe Sharp’s FIRST DROP, Chris Grabenstein’s TILT-A-WHIRL, Adam Fawer’s IMPROBABLE, Michael Lawson’s THE INSIDE RING, just to name a few. And Flinn further clarified that submissions are open to authors from all possible countries in every category.
