On the noir front

This deal report isn’t particularly odd taken at surface value, but what’s odd for me is that I’d heard great things about this first novel — from a source at a different publisher entirely:

Journalist Christopher Goffard’s SNITCH JACKET, reminiscent of Notes from the Underground, part buddy-buddy road adventure, West Coast slacker and noir crime, to James Gurbutt of Harvill Secker, by Philip Patterson of Marjacq Scripts, London (UK/BC).

Goffard knows of what he speaks when it comes to the West Coast as he did a stint over at the LA Times before moving to the other side of the country, where he’s now ensconced at the St. Petersburg Times. Patterson is most notable for being the agent of Stuart MacBride.

The PM deal also says that US and translation rights are still available, and it seems likely that a US deal will happen soon enough.
