Hooked on a memoir
It’s too bad this guy’s still in transit because lord knows he (along with this guy) will get a huge kick out of this news:
Hodder & Stoughton is delighted to announce the acquisition of World Rights for the autobiography of ‘The Most Watched Star in The World’, David Hasselhoff
Described as a “living legend” and a “counterculture icon,” with “super-human allure” David Hasselhoff has been named one of "TV’s Ten Most Powerful Stars." The Hoff holds the official Guinness Book of World Records Award for ‘The Most Watched TV Star in the World’, with an estimated weekly audience of more than 1.1 billion in 148 countries. His Baywatch series has been seen by a combined audience of 5.7 billion people – just short of the population of the planet.
Now Hodder & Stoughton is delighted to announce that they are releasing David’s autobiography in hardback in autumn 2006.
Revelatory, heart-warming and fun, it will follow Hasselhoff’s acting career from his childhood role in Peter Pan to his highly acclaimed performance as Billy Flynn in Chicago in London’s West End to his latest film role in the new Adam Sandler comedy Click! starring Kate Beckinsale and Christopher Walken. The book will contain a wealth of inside stories, including untold stories of his first marriage, his life as a soap star, his adventures on Knight Rider and Baywatch as well as a singing career that has notched up worldwide sales in excess of nine million records. It will also reveal his fight against alcoholism that nearly drove him to destruction and the devastating motorbike accident in which his wife, Pamela, was badly injured.
Judith Longman, Publishing Director says “the sheer buzz of excitement in the (h)office has just carried this acquisition along and I foresee a very exciting time ahead.” Martin Mullin, Managing Director agreed saying “We have achieved a huge coup against stiff opposition for this title and we are very confident that David’s autobiography will be a big hit.” Sales Director Lucy Hale added “The Hoff is a legend in his own lifetime; from Knight Rider through Baywatch to his recent animated appearance in SpongeBob SquarePants he has entertained his audience for decades whilst, behind the scenes, struggling with the backlash of international fame. This is going to be a fascinating and entertaining autobiography.”
Really, what else can I possibly add to this?
