Party like a Bush girl (another Texas-centric post)

Looking to take a road trip this fall?  Maybe with a literary bent?

Make plans now for the 10th Annual Texas Book Festival, running from October 28 to the 30th in Austin, the live music capital of the world.   Hear readings from the likes of David McCullough, Salman Rushdie, and Eli Wallach (yes, that Eli Wallach) during the day, and hit the city’s famous party district, Sixth Street, at night.  There’s no telling who might end up sitting next to you at the bar.

That takes you on into November, a great time to experience the Texas Hill Country, one of the coolest places around because, well, it’s in Texas.   To get you in the mood, you might try one of these Texas mystery writers.

After a month or so of drinking Shiner beer in Luckenbach and bumming around Fredricksburg and Kerrville, pack your bags and head to Houston for a Night of Noir at Murder By The Book on December 7th.  The evening promises to be a lot of fun with discussions and readings by Ken Bruen, Reed Farrell Coleman, Charlie Stella, and Duane Swierczynski.
