It’s good to be Jane Chelius
Especially when your clients ink contracts like this one:
Dan Fesperman’s THE PRISONER OF GUANTANAMO, to Sonny Mehta at Knopf, in a two-book deal, by Jane Chelius of the Jane Chelius Literary Agency.
UK rights to Nick Sayers at Hodder Headline, moving from Transworld, by Sarah Molloy at AM Heath, on behalf of the Jane Chelius Agency.
And this one:
Edgar Award winner Steve Hamilton’s A STOLEN SEASON, his newest Alex McKnight mystery, to Ruth Cavin at St. Martin’s Press, in a significant deal, for two books, by Jane Chelius of the Jane Chelius Literary Agency.
UK rights to Jane Wood of Orion, by Sarah Molloy at AM Heath, on behalf of the Jane Chelius Agency.
No word on when Fesperman and Hamilton’s books will be out, but considering that a bunch of rights are listed, I suspect this is a case of announcing deals closer to the date of publication (read: next year) instead of doing so at the first possible moment.
Now, one would hope that if St. Martin’s is actually anteing up that much money, that they’ll make a more concerted effort to break Hamilton out and get his name on many people’s radars. Because if there was a shortlist of crime writers who were sorely missed this year, he’s near the top.
And it goes without saying that I am very excited to read every book listed in the above deals.
