On the BEA Front

If I’d been better prepared I would have done something similar to my “Girl’s Guide to Edgar Week” for BEA but instead, some bullet points:

  • Pre-show articles courtesy of the Associated Press and the LA Times;
  • Look for photos from all variety of participants thanks to Publishers Marketplace’s BEA Photo Blog, which has been made possible by Flickr;
  • Mary Reagan will be covering the convention for Crime Spree, and it’s highly likely that pics will be showing up on her fabulous photoblog;
  • And I’ll be out and about at various parties, panels and the like, including the following:

  • Thursday: Backspace Writers Conference, where I’ll moderate a panel featuring Lee Child, David Morrell, Harry Hunsicker, Barry Eisler and Jeff Anderson. To say I am in august company is understating things by a ton. Then in the evening you can find me first at the Slipper Room for the Litblog Co-Op’s party, then later at Partners & Crime for Akashic Book’s launch for BROOKLYN NOIR 2 and THE COCAINE CHRONICLES.

  • Saturday: It’s Mystery & Suspense Day at BEA which means I’ll be running from panel to panel, including my own* about media perspectives on mystery readers. I’ll also be paying special attention to the Book Buzz Forum at 1 PM that day to see if my thoughts jibe with those of the editors taking part…

And of course, everyone will pay attention to footwear. Because they can._

*Yes, I know quite well that it’s misspelled. I thought it was amusing so I didn’t bother sending in a correction.
