Forensic thrillers, Australian-style

But interestingly, it’s not Tara Moss who inks a deal here, but someone else entirely:

Australian author Kathryn Fox’s debut forensic thriller, MALICIOUS

INTENT, about the investigation into cases of young women dying by

apparent suicide, to Lyssa Keusch at Avon, at auction, in a two-book

deal, by Faye Bender at Faye Bender Literary Agency, on behalf of Fiona

Inglis at Curtis Brown Australia.

Fox’s debut was released in Oz last year (with pending release in the UK by Hodder & Stoughton this summer) and garnered some very nice reviews, as well as extra coverage about her previous career as a freelance medical journalist and general practitioner. Fox, BTW, is a pseudonym — the author uses a pen name because she has been threatened before by a former patient.

The other wrinkle is that Keusch bought the book for Avon, which is a paperback imprint — will MALICIOUS INTENT be released, then, in paperback or in hardcover first? No doubt that answer will be revealed as time passes.
