Barbara Burnett Smith: In memoriam

As first reported on the DorothyL mailing list, Barbara Burnett Smith, author of several mystery novels (most recently BEAD ON TROUBLE) died Saturday night in tragic circumstances. She and her husband were in San Antonio to rescue a dog. When they reached the bookshop Remember the Alibi, the dog escaped into the street, and Smith chased after. In doing so, she was struck by a car and later died in hospital from injuries incurred.

Funeral arrangements are still in the process of being made, but deepest condolences to Smith’s family.
