Books of Champions

I’ve been sorely negligent in not linking to The Morning News’ fabulous Tournament of Books competition, which launched earlier this month. The first round is nearly over, and those involved in the semi-final phase include some fine literary bloggers. So of course, now that the bulk of the competition is done, the New York Times decides to pay attention. The piece gets points for cribbing from Barry Malzberg and Bill Pronzini’s collaboration PROSE BOWL, but there will certainly be some fun tidbits in the Corrections page — because funny, I didn’t realize Mark was going to have to read Ben Jones’ book…

Never mind that there’s probably hysterical laughter from one corner that his lie about his age was perpetuated…
