I guess this trend isn’t over yet

So earlier this week we had the high powered debut legal thriller deal. Now comes the high powered debut forensic thriller deal:

Chair of the Federal advisory commission for the Human Genome Project

and expert on law and genetics Lori B. Andrews’s three thrillers

featuring geneticist Dr. Alex Blake, beginning with Alex and her

colleagues tackling a serial killer case that has the FBI stumped, to

Kelley Ragland at Minotaur, in a significant deal, by Katharine

Cluverius at ICM (NA).

Andrews is a law professor at Kent State University and has published several non-fiction works about bioethics and cloning, and has had so many publications I am glad I don’t have to keep track. And most of all, she’s already been on Oprah, so you know the publicity machine at St. Martin’s is going to start rolling really, really soon and aim very, very high.

Of course, I’m still wondering when, if ever, Robert Shaler will get his book deal…
