Mr. Smith goes to PointBlank

I love reporting news like this, where a writer kicks around for years and years, rejection after rejection and then — success. So three cheers for Anthony Neil Smith whose debut novel, PSYCHOSOMATIC, will be out this fall from PointBlank Press, just in time for Bouchercon. That’s also when the PWG anthology from Dennis McMillan will be launched, so I do believe Neil will be in a partying kind of mood…

Neil also gives some info as to what it’s about:

As far as the plot, well, it’s certainly one of those “gonzo noir” types, full of vivid violence and nastiness.  A fat “odd job” man, Allen, hooks up with a woman without arms and legs, who happens to be the ex of a cocaine dealer, and she wants back in the game.  She twists her new boyfriend around her finger to help her get a chip in the game.  Meanwhile, Terry and Lancaster, two overgrown frat boy con artists, run into a snag with their main gig (stealing broken-down cars off the side of the interstate) and have to lie low, but they end up crossing paths with Allen, who lands a bullet in Lancaster, sparking an all-out brutal orgy of

revenge.

More than that, it asks just how much shit we’ll

put up with in relationships, no matter how hellish.

I must admit, he had me at the “women without arms and legs” part…

PWG’s also about to convert itself completely into a hub of information for its Crimedogs, so for those with information to update and news to report, hit the contact info and get in touch.
