It runs in the family

When this came my way, well, how could I possibly refrain from reporting it?

12 YEAR OLD SIGNS MAJOR DEAL

Grace Kennedy Bruen, a trainee hairdresser, today signed a six figure two-book deal for her debut mystery STABBING BOOK. Her agent, Payton Claire de Bussey, confirmed that the movie rights had been sold for an undisclosed sum and foreign rights had sold to over 40 countries. A previously unpublished memoir, MY DAD AND OTHER ANIMALS, (formerly titled HOMER NODS) is due in 2006.

The author was unavailable for comment but her agent said, “the money would not change the author’s granite view of the world, but her father is reported to be in a home for the bewildered.” A series of self-help books by the young writer, HOW TO DEAL WITH SULKING MEN, is already a runaway bestseller in her native Ireland.  A source close to to Ms. Kennedy Bruen denies any connection whatsoever to the “hack novelist” Ken Bruen, and is further quoted that the author is “tired and emotional” and being comforted by Paris and Nicole in her new home in Paris.

Her mother, the famous papaparazzi known for reporting only when there is an “R” in the month, did allow that although the money would not change her daughter, it would bloody sure as hell change her.
