The Million Writers Award returns
Jason Sandford, proprietor of StorySouth, has brought back the popular award, designed to “honor and promote the best fiction published in online literary journals and magazines during the past year,” for a second go-round. The deadline to submit nominees is February 1. If you’re a reader or writer, you can submit one nomination. If you’re an editor, you have up to three choices.
Last year’s results are posted here, and give an indication as to the breadth of stories that were written for the web and the sheer number of talented writers out there. It was very heartening to see a story from SHOTS make the notable list (Carol Anne Davis’s “How to Save Your Life”) and I’d be pleased if an entry from some of the usual suspects was similarly feted as well. After all, why shouldn’t crime fiction be more represented?
