High, meet concept

Sometimes, I wonder if I shouldn’t prejudge. I haven’t read the manuscript, after all, and boiling down an entire novel to a few short keystrokes often lessens the impact considerably. And yet….this new deal reported at PM doesn’t exactly fill me with anticipation:

George Shuman’s 18 SECONDS, a psychological thriller featuring a blind psychic who uses touch to “see” the last 18 seconds of a murder victim’s life and employs her gift to help a newly minted female police lieutenant hunt down a brutal serial killer, to Rob Weisbach at Simon & Schuster, by Paul Fedorko at Trident Media Group.

Why 18 seconds? Is it some kind of Chai connection? Why a blind psychic and not a deaf one? And above all, why another serial killer? Oh well…like I said, no pre-judging.
