North, then South
The past week or so has been spent in a rather repetitive state–tape boxes, fill them with books, close them. Do the same with CDs and some clothes. Rinse, and repeat. The days preceding Labor Day Weekend are rife for moving and travel, and somehow, I’m about to do both–After a few hours to drop off the essentials, I’m heading north–way north–on the Polar Bear Express. Yes, I know–most sane people, when they vacation, opt for warmer climes. I, the Canadian, choose to go even further towards the cold. But it promises to be an interesting trip, and frankly, I’m kind of looking forward to being computer-less for a few days. Well, I’m sure by about day one and a half I’ll be in full withdrawal mode, but I’ll worry about that later…
After that I’ll ensconce myself in my new digs, so I’ll be out of commission, in all likelihood, for a good week or so. Luckily, two fine folks will fill in during my absence, signalling the end to the August Stuntblogging Month.
On Monday and Tuesday, Donna Moore–Kafka to her friends–will be your host. Even though she claims she’s not a proper writer, we all know this is a big lie. (Especially Al Guthrie.) No doubt she has some cool things up her sleeve, and I can’t help but hope she’ll entertain us with the Further Adventures of the Number 62 Bus, which may well be the largest repository of loonies ever assembled. But you know, no pressure or anything….
Then on Wednesday and Thursday, Emily Maguire takes a turn. Her first novel is TAMING THE BEAST, which some readers may remember from the gobsmackingly gushing review I posted here a couple of months ago. No doubt she’ll bring a very different perspective on writing and publishing, as she’s based in Australia.
So wish me luck, and I may even bring back pictures. Until next weekend–migwetch
