Work it
Publishing News reports on a self-published author who is going to launch his book on the London Underground shortly. Dunno, by Peter Inson is the story of a disaffected teenager who finds a new purpose in life, etc.
What strikes me about this story is, how the hell did it manage to get such great coverage? I mean, the guy hasn’t even done the hard bit yet – cold-selling the book to the notoriously unapproachable punters on the Tube. Fair play to Peter Inson though for managing it. Has he hired a publicist or what?
There’s someone closer to home who has been getting this kind of coverage. Actually he’s pretty far away – Taiwan. But US expatriate Dan Bloom is a regular reader of Confessions… and may be a familiar name to some of you. Dan explains himself here (scroll down), so I won’t go into that side at length. Suffice to say he’s been hawking his books at night in the flea markets of Taiwan.
I admire anyone who gets off their arse and pimps their own product straight to the punter.
Anyone else tried to do this?
