My plan has succeeded

Ron Mwangaguhunga (of Corsair fame) wonders who the “Queen of the Blogosphere” is after seeing a ridiculously lengthy article in the Independent late last month about Manhattan-based society blogger Stephanie Klein, who was evidently asked out by Chris Noth once and that’s why she has some degree of notoriety. The question spread to other blogs, and now Ron adds some additional candidates:

Have I missed any? I’m sure I have. I’m writing this hung over on a Saturday morning. Who do you think gets the Internet Queen of Manhattan? If we go beyond Manhattan, why not Old Hag and Sarah Weinman (Is Sarah a Manhattanite? I don’t know; I do know, however, that she got her Master’s at John Jay, but she occupies a sort of sexy and spaceless “all crime all the time” frame in her blog, so I’m not sure)?

Now it can be revealed: I really do live in a virtual Manhattan of my own making. Since I can’t be there at the moment, I just soak up the culture, read all the papers (and blogs, natch), get (or try to) all the in-jokes and probably spend more time in the city now than when I actually did live there for two years.

Of course, if I ever do move back, I can’t live there quite as thoroughly as I do now, because then I’ll have to get a life or something. We can’t have that.
