The coolest unpaid job going

Like many others, I couldn’t be happier about Terry Teachout’s just-announced nomination to serve on the National Council of the Arts, but am just a little bit envious as well–oh, the power to decide which arts-related projects can get funding or not! Then again, if the NCA is anything like the typical slush pile, no doubt may, shall we say, “interesting” requests cross their desks, destined for oblivion or rejection, while only a scant few make it to the approval stage. Decisions, decisions.

On the other hand, should this fellow ever apply for a grant in the near-future, one wonders if it will be expedited far quicker than his competitors….
