Kate and Darley, sitting in a tree

Darley Anderson is one of the top UK-based literary agents, best known for his roster of crime and thriller writers including Lee Child, John Connolly, and Martina Cole. Kate Miciak is the VP of Bantam Dell who edits a host of crime fiction types like Rick Riordan, Greg Rucka, and SJ Rozan.

Agents, no doubt, have editors they like to do business with more than once, but this is starting to get a little bit cozy. It started with the 8-figure deal that saw Child moving his Jack Reacher series from Putnam over to Bantam Dell a few books ago. Then Anderson sold the US rights to newcomer Alex Barclay’s first two novels (which had netted a tidy 300,000-odd pound dealfrom HarperCollins UK) to Miciak for “a high six figure” amount.

And now this, just over the transom:

Louise Anderson’s debut crime/thriller PERCEPTION OF DEATH, the first in a series that will feature Glasgow-based Erin Patterson, a spirited female lawyer, to Kate Miciak at Bantam, in a good deal, for two books, by Emma White at the Darley Anderson Literary Agency.

Anyway, congrats on all–because the last two authors sound promising and I’m looking forward to reading their work, whether in the UK or US edition….
