Kernick moves on up

I do hope that eventually, Simon Kernick will get the same kind of attention in the US that he does in his native England, but in the meantime, his profile will likely increase even more over there after this choice bit of news reported yesterday at Publishers’ Marketplace:

Two new crime thrillers by British writer Simon Kernick, introducing a new high-profile crime series with two main protagonists, one of whom works for the National Crime Squad and the other who’s an undercover police officer, and who are on the trail of some highly inflammable explosives, to Selina Walker at Transworld, in a good deal, for publication in Spring 2006 and 2007, by Amanda Preston at Sheil Land Associates.

Kernick further reports that the series will be set in the same “world” as his earlier books, but the only the only character who will carry over is DS Tina Boyd, who was introduced in last year’s THE MURDER EXCHANGE and takes on a greater role in Kernick’s current thriller THE CRIME TRADE.

In any case, it’s heartening to see Transworld invest further time and energy into furthering Kernick’s career, which is bettering itself with each successive book.
