When authors attack–literally
Book tours and signings are a stressful ordeal in general. But then, sometimes they go just a little past the beyond:
HIROSHIMA — A man who assaulted the head of a bookstore after becoming infuriated at the treatment he received when he asked for a book he wrote has been arrested, police said.
Hiroshi Kono, 46, the author of the book “Honro: Haisui no Jutan,” telling the story of a yakuza, was arrested for assault following the incident, which occurred at a bookstore in Kaita, Hiroshima Prefecture, at about 12:40 p.m. last Friday.
Lord knows what would have happened if the author had walked into the store and discovered the books in stock were third editions instead of firsts….
