New edition of the Rap Sheet
Ahh, the Rap Sheet, I did miss it so. For good reason, as J. Kingston Pierce spent the better part of April and May on vacation in Europe, and so, a double issue. All the usual suspects (Kevin Burton Smith, Jennifer Jordan, Ali Karim, Cindy Chow, Yvette Banek, Anthony Rainone) are in fine form, reviewing new releases by Jason Starr, Barbara Seranella, Simon Kernick, Norman Green, and many others.
I contributed four reviews, and for some reason I was on a debut novel kick. Interestingly, I managed to give a thumbs-up to first-timers from differing countries: J.A. Konrath (American), Charlie Williams (British) and Jon Evans (Canadian). Don’t know what that means. I also critiqued Julia Spencer-Fleming’s OUT OF THE DEEP I CRY, the latest entry in a series that I like more and more.
